I was told that photography was not art, and that all I do is just press a button. In my defense, all you do is definitely not just press a button. Sure, you can push a button, but that doesn’t mean anything good will come out of it. Capturing special moments or creating conceptual photographs that make people ‘feel’ is art, we create emotion, and that’s what painting and dancing usually do too. Photography requires a creative mind and an eye that sees beauty in the simple and if you work it out right, the outcome is just as good as if it were a drawing or a sculpture. In all honesty I have no clue how someone could argue that it’s not art, it’s a matter whether the artist is talented or not at what he does. I don’t consider art to be something that is made with the hands, honestly, it’s more of something that’s crafted with the mind.
